Delhi Police detains Congress MPs including Rahul Gandhi for protesting at Vijay Chowk

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has reached the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in connection with the alleged money laundering related to ‘National Herald’. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi also appeared with her.

After the uproar in Parliament, all Congress MPs including Rahul Gandhi sat on a dharna at Vijay Chowk in protest against Sonia Gandhi’s questioning. After which the Delhi Police detained the MPs.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh has tweeted, “All Congress MPs stopped at Vijay Chowk and prevented from marching to Rashtrapati Bhavan. Forcibly arrested. Now we are in police buses being taken to a place only PM and HM know where…”

Sachin Pilot has attacked the central government for stopping Congress leaders from protesting. He said that this is an attempt to suppress the voice. The Congress is targeting leaders through the central agency.

Apart from Rahul, several MPs including Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal, Shaktisinh Gohil have been detained. Congress has tweeted that these MPs are being taken by the police to some unknown places. All these Congress MPs were going from Parliament to Rashtrapati Bhavan while conducting a protest march.

Congress General Secretary Ajay Maken alleged that Delhi Police is not allowing senior Congress leaders to even go to Rajghat. We are being stopped from performing. However, outside the office, Mahila Congress workers blew up black balloons in protest.
