Delhi High Court orders FIR against BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain for raping woman in a farmhouse

A rape case has been ordered against former Bihar Industries Minister and BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain. A lower court in Delhi has ordered registration of a rape case against Shahnawaz Hussain. However, the High Court has dismissed the petition challenging the lower court’s decision. The court has also reprimanded the police during the hearing of this case. This case is of 2018 in which the victim had demanded to file an FIR.

A few months ago, on the complaint of the victim, Delhi’s Saket court had ordered registration of an FIR. This order of the lower court was challenged by Shahnawaz Hussain in front of the special judge in the Saket court itself. On not getting relief from there, a petition was filed in the Delhi High Court. In 2018 itself, the High Court had put an interim stay on the order to register the FIR.

Now the High Court has reprimanded the police in this case of Shahnawaz Hussain. Hearing in the case, the judge said that the police are probably hesitant to register a case against Shahnawaz Hussain. The court has also questioned the attitude of the police in the whole matter. Dismissing the petition, the High Court has directed the Delhi Police to investigate the matter within three months and file a charge sheet under section 173 of the IPC in the court.

This is the case of April of 2018. When a woman accused Shahnawaz Hussain of rape. The woman alleges that she was raped by Shahnawaz by feeding her intoxicants at a farmhouse in Chhatarpur. Delhi Police had refused to register a case in this case. After this the woman reached the Saket court. The Saket District Court had ordered the Delhi Police to register a case against Shahnawaz Hussain.
