CWG 2022: World champion Nikhat Zareen, Neetu Ghanghas and Amit Panghal wins gold in boxing

CWG 2022 Boxing: Indian boxers did wonders on the 10th day of the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Nikhat Zareen won the gold medal followed by Neetu Ghanghas and Amit Panghal. In the women’s 45-48kg final match, Neetu Ghanghas defeated Demi Jade of England 5-0. After that, Amit defeated the boxer of England by doing amazing. World champion Nikhat Zareen defeated Carly Knoll of Northern Ireland 5-0 in the final of the 48-50kg (light fly) category.

Nikhat Zareen has been successful in winning gold in Commonwealth Games for the first time. This is also her first medal in these games. Nikhat had won a gold medal at the World Championships this year. She was successful in winning the bronze medal at the Asian Championships 2019. After Nikhat, now there is hope of gold from Sagar Ahlawat.

Talking about Neetu, for the first time she has won a medal in the Commonwealth Games. She has won gold at the Youth World Championships 2017 and 2018.

In men’s 48-51kg category, Amit Panghal defeated Kieran McDonald 5-0. This is India’s second gold in boxing. Amit has won gold in Commonwealth Games for the first time. Last time he won a silver medal in 2018 Gold Coast. Amit had managed to win gold in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. He has a silver medal at the World Championships (2019). Apart from this, he has won gold (2019), silver (2021) and bronze (2017) at the Asian Championships.
