Cricket in Olympics: The exercise to include cricket in the Olympics has started. It can get a place in the Olympics to be held in Los Angeles in 2028. Cricket has been included in the review sports by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This sport may appear in the Olympics after 128 years. The last time cricket was played was in the Paris Olympics in 1900. Then only the teams of Britain and host France played.
The organizing committee of the Olympics in Los Angeles and the International Olympic Committee called the International Cricket Council (ICC) to make their presentation. Cricket has been included in the review games after the presentation by the ICC. Cricket also has eight other sports with it. Baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse, break dancing, karate, kick-boxing, squash and motorsport have also found a place.
Cricket in Olympics: Next session of IOC to be held in Mumbai
The decision to include cricket in the Olympics may be taken in Mumbai next year. Mumbai will host the IOC session from May 30 to June 1, 2023. The IOC said earlier this year that 28 sports would be included in Los Angeles. Some sports can be kept keeping in mind the youth.

In order to be included in the Olympics, sports have to meet certain criteria. The biggest thing in this is low cost and complexity. Apart from this, the health of the players, global appeal, interest of the host country, gender equality, youth relevance and long-term sustainability are also looked at.
