A special court in Gurugram in Haryana has issued an arrest warrant against anchor Deepak Chaurasia. This warrant has been issued against Deepak Chaurasia in a 2013 case. In fact, the TV news anchor is alleged to have circulated a ‘morphed, edited and obscene’ video of a 10-year-old girl and her family and linked it to the sexual harassment case against self-proclaimed Baba Asaram.
The court issued this order on October 28, 2022, when Chaurasia had filed a petition seeking exemption from appearance citing serious health reasons. Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Chauhan said a similar petition was filed on September 23 as well. His opposition argued that it appears that Chaurasia is deliberately avoiding coming to court. His medical report in the court could not prove Deepak Chaurasia’s arguments.
After this, the court rejected his plea to avoid his appearance and also canceled his bail bond.
According to reports, Judge Shashi Chauhan issued a warrant of arrest on November 21, 2022. In this case, till now no reaction has come from the side of Deepak Chaurasia in the media. It is known that Deepak Chaurasia is among the eight people who were chargesheeted in the case of editing, circulating obscene videos and linking the videos to sexual harassment of a 10-year-old girl and her family.
Let us tell you that this case is related to the FIR registered in 2013 on the complaint of the relative of the child. News channels News 24, India News and News Nation were accused of broadcasting the video. According to reports, the videos aired on these news channels partially showed the faces of the girl child, the complainant’s wife and some other women.
