Nabanna Abhijan: During the new campaign against the state government over corruption, the march of the BJP towards the state secretariat was stopped by the police from Santragachi and Howrah Maidan in Howrah to Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon. As soon as the BJP workers proceeded from near the Santragachi bus stand towards Navanna, the police stopped them. After this BJP workers tried to break the barricading, due to which there was a violent clash with the police.
During this, BJP workers started pelting stones on the police, after which the police used tear gas and water cannons along with lathi-charge. Many workers have also been injured in this. After this, BJP workers tried to break the barricades during the Nabanna Abhijan in Howrah Maidan area, after which there was a fierce clash with the police. Police then used water cannon with lathi charge.
In Kolkata too, there has been an intense clash between the police and BJP workers. On the other hand, there is a clash between the police and BJP supporters living in Santragachi. During this, a furious mob has also set the police vehicle on fire. There is a very tense situation regarding this.

It’s important to know that before the start of the Nabanna Abhijan, the police took into custody BJP MP from Hooghly Locket Chatterjee, BJP leader Rahul Sinha and other leaders including Suvendu Adhikari near Second Hooghly Setu. All these leaders were taken into custody by the police before they were going towards Santragachi to lead the march.
The police took these leaders in their vehicles. On the other hand, buses carrying BJP workers to Kolkata to join the Nabanna Abhijan were stopped by the police in Howrah, North 24 Parganas and other places in the morning. After which clashes broke out between BJP workers and the police. The police have detained a large number of BJP workers.
