BJP suffers crushing defeat in four state by-elections; RJD in Bihar, TMC in West Bengal, Congress wins Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra

Four state by-elections: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suffered a crushing defeat in the by-elections held in 5 seats in 4 states of the country. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has won the Asansol Lok Sabha and Ballygunge assembly seats in West Bengal. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s party Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has registered a landslide victory in Bochahan seat of Bihar. At the same time, Congress has won the Khairagarh assembly seat in Chhattisgarh and Kolhapur North seat in Maharashtra.

TMC candidate Shatrughan Sinha has registered a landslide victory from Asansol Lok Sabha seat of West Bengal. Sinha defeated BJP’s Agnimitra Paul by more than three lakh votes.

At the same time, Babul Supriyo has registered a landslide victory from the Ballygunge assembly seat of Bengal. He defeated his nearest CPI-M rival Saira Shah Haleem by over 20,000 votes.

The Congress won the Khairagarh assembly seat in Chhattisgarh and the Kolhapur North seat in Maharashtra. In Khairagarh, Yashoda Verma of Congress defeated Komal Jangel of BJP by more than 20 thousand votes.

At the same time, Congress candidate Jayshree Jadhav has won the by-election in the Kolhapur North assembly seat of Maharashtra. Jayshree Jadhav by more than 18 thousand votes. He has defeated BJP’s candidate Satyajit Kadam.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Amar Kumar Paswan has won the Bochahan seat of Bihar by a margin of 36 thousand votes. Paswan registered a landslide victory defeating the candidate of Janata Dal-United by more than 36,000 votes.
