According to media reports, confirming the detention, a senior official said, “The MLA was taken into preventive custody when he was trying to visit the venue of the show on Friday morning. This is not an arrest.” Responding to a question whether the MLA will be kept in custody till the end of the show, the senior official said that it will depend on further things. Can’t say anything at the moment.

Let us tell you that earlier this year on January 9, Faruqui’s show was organized in Hyderabad, which was openly opposed by T Raja Singh. The show was canceled following protests by the MLA. However, Covid was cited as the reason behind the cancellation of the show at that time. Now on August 20, Faruqui’s show ‘Dongri to Nowhere’ is to be held in Hyderabad.

Regarding Faruqui’s show, T Raja Singh said, “I am against this show. He has insulted our deities and what are we expected to do? We request the police to cancel the show and not disturb the peace and harmony of the city. Muslims are requested to join us and oppose Faruqui’s show.”
