BJP hatemonger MLA T Raja Singh arrested for making objectionable remarks on Prophet, also suspended from BJP

BJP MLA T Raja Singh was arrested in Hyderabad on Tuesday for making objectionable remarks on Prophet Muhammad. After this, BJP also suspended MLA T Raja from Goshamahal from the party. T Raja had released a video and used objectionable words for Prophet Muhammad. He later called it a joke. After the statement, a large number of people took to the streets in protest against him.

Protests have been going on in Hyderabad since Monday night against T Raja’s statement. The angry mob had demanded the arrest of T Raja Singh. The protesters compared T Raja’s statement with that of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

After this, a case was registered against him at Dabirpura police station under several sections including 295(a), 153(a) of IPC. The police have also detained many of the protesters. A large number of police forces have been deployed outside Hyderabad’s Police Commissioner’s Office, Director General of Police’s office and the old Police Commissioner’s office.

On the alleged statement of Raja Singh, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, “I condemn the statement of BJP MLA. BJP wants to disturb the peace in Telangana, BJP wants to spoil the peace in Hyderabad and communal riots here.”

BJP MLA had released a video against comedian Munawar Faruqui. Munawar performed at a comedy show in Hyderabad only last week. Earlier, T Raja Singh threatened to stop Faruqui’s show and set the venue on fire. T Raja Singh said that Munawar Faruqui has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. After this threat, he was placed under house arrest.

BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma had made a controversial statement on Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate on 27 May. Due to the statement, the BJP suspended him from the party for 6 years. Violent demonstrations took place in many places in the country against Nupur’s statement.

The Supreme Court had also reprimanded Nupur Sharma in this case. The court had said that Nupur made provocative remarks against a particular religion on television. They have provoked the sentiments of the people and Nupur is responsible for whatever is happening across the country. He has posed a threat to the security of the country.
