Ben Stokes announces retirement from ODI cricket, will play last match against Africa

Ben Stokes has announced his retirement from ODI cricket at the age of 31. Now he will play his last ODI against Africa on Tuesday. On social media handle Instagram, he wrote – I will play my last match in ODI cricket for England in Durham on Tuesday.

“I have decided to retire from this format. This has been an incredibly difficult decision for me. I have enjoyed every minute of playing for England with my teammates. This journey has been wonderful for me,” he added.

He further said that in this format now he probably cannot give 100 percent for his team. Now I will not be able to play that good cricket in all three formats, so I have taken this decision.

Talking about his ODI career, he made his debut for England in 2011 against Ireland. He has played 104 ODIs for England in which he has scored 2919 runs at an average of 39.45.
