Beef is the ‘National Dish’ of India, says Assam BJP candidate

Hard-core BJP supporters always campaign to ban beef across the country, but in the election, a BJP-candidate in Assam claimed that beef is India’s ‘national dish’. BJP candidate from Assam’s Gauripur constituency, Banendra Kumar Mushahari, has been caught on the wrong foot in an election rally in a Muslim-dominated constituency to claim that ‘beef’ is the national dish of India.

On one hand, UP CM Adityanath is rallying in West Bengal on cow slaughter. On the other hand, BJP leaders are calling cow slaughter and beef a national dish. BJP candidate Banendra Kumar who is trying to woo the support of minority voters said that “how can anyone try to ban beef? It is the national dish of India”.

‘Beef is National dish’

BJP candidate while addressing the rally said that “beef is an international cuisine, educated Muslims in the rural areas of Assam should understand that no one can ban the sale of beef anywhere in Assam or India”.

Senior BJP workers in Dhubri district have raised serious questions over Banendra Kumar’s statement at an election meeting in Gauripur, and demanded that the BJP candidate should apologize immediately. Meanwhile, members of the Purvanchal Hindu United Manch lodged an FIR at Dispur Police Station on Tuesday, demanding that immediate action be initiated against Banendra Kumar for violation of the Election Code of Conduct. Beef is the ‘national dish’ of India, which the Assam BJP candidate says.
