The Mumbai Police has submitted a remand report in court on Monday in the alleged TRP scam case. The report stated that Arnab Goswami, the editor-in-chief of Republic TV, gave ‘lakhs of rupees’ to former TV Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) CEO Partho Dasgupta to increase the TIP of the two channels.
Police told the Metropolitan Magistrate Court, “When Dasgupta was the CEO of BARC”, Arnab Goswami and other accused conspired to wrongly increase TRP. An attempt was made to increase the TRP of Republic Bharat Hindi News Channel and Republic TV English Channel. Goswami gave several lakhs of rupees to Dasgupta at various times. Investigations have revealed this. ”Police arrested Dasgupta last week.

This is the first time the police have mentioned Arnab’s role in the TRP scam case. Goswami’s comment could not be found on Monday. However, the Republic Owners have been written in the remand report. The explicit name of Arnab Goswami is not written in it. According to the report, Dasgupta used this money to buy jewelery and other valuables which have been recovered from his house. Police said, “The purchase includes a one lakh rupee watch, jewelery and some gems which have been seized.”
Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Waje told The Indian Express that during his questioning to Dasgupta, he said that he met Arnab Goswami at least three times. This meeting took place in different hotels. He said that Dasgupta and Arnab had worked together in Times Now. He once paid Dasgupta in US dollars as well. Waje said that Dasgupta and Romil Ramgarhia have been arrested earlier this month. Police suspect that some former BARC employees were also involved in the activity.
Police said that these arrests were made after receiving a third party audit report. According to police, in July this year, BARC was submitted an audit report. It added that Times Now’s ratings were reduced to increase Republic TV’s ratings. In this case, mail of some BARC employees has also been found. The case was registered by the Mumbai Police in October. In this, allegations have been made on Republic TV, Box Cinemas and Fact Marathi Channel.
