‘Anyone who says Muslims should not live in India is not Hindu’: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday termed the lynchings as anti-Hindutva. Mohan Bhagwat said that the DNA of all Indians is the same and Muslims should not get caught “in this cycle of fear” that Islam is under threat in India.

The RSS chief also said that those who ask Muslims to leave the country cannot call themselves Hindus. He was speaking at a program organized by Rashtriya Muslim Manch here on the topic ‘Hindustani first, Hindustan first’. He said that people cannot be differentiated on the basis of their way of worship. Slamming those involved in the lynching incidents, Bhagwat said, “They are against Hindutva.” However, he said that some fake cases of lynching have been registered against the people.

Bhagwat told the Muslims, “Let them not fall into this cycle of fear that Islam is in danger in India.” He said development is not possible without unity in the country. The RSS chief emphasized that the basis of unity should be nationalism and pride of ancestors. He said that the only solution to the Hindu-Muslim conflict is ‘Samvad’ and not ‘Visamvad’.

Bhagwat also launched the book ‘The Meeting of Minds’ by Khwaja Iftkar Ahmed on the occasion. He said, “The talk of Hindu-Muslim unity is misleading because they are not separate but one. The DNA of all Indians is the same, irrespective of religion.

The RSS chief said, “If anyone says that Muslims should not live in India, he is not a Hindu.” He said, “We are in a democracy. There cannot be dominance of Hindus or Muslims. Only Indians can dominate here.”

Bhagwat started his address by saying that he has neither joined the program to create any image nor for vote bank politics. He said that the Sangh is neither in politics nor does it care about maintaining any image. “It (Sangh) continues its work for empowering the nation and welfare of all people in the society,” the RSS chief said.

Sources say that the statement given by the Sangh chief is an admonition to the BJP. After Delhi, Bengal, Assam, the way the Hindu Muslim card is being played in UP, he has surely shown the mirror to BJP and its leaders will definitely be uncomfortable with this statement of Mohan Bhagwat.
