Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Asansol seat of West Bengal Babul Supriyo has announced his retirement from politics, days after he was removed from the post of Union Minister. Supriyo said with his resignation that, he had come to politics for social work and it is not necessary to stay in politics for social work.
Former Union Minister Babul Supriyo wrote in his Facebook post on Saturday (July 31), “Goodbye. I am not joining any political party. TMC, Congress, CPI(M) nobody has called me, I am not going anywhere… Don’t need to be in politics to do social work.”
With this announcement, he said that BJP was, is and will remain my party. He further said, ‘I will leave my house (government allotted residence) within a month. I am also resigning from the post of Member of Parliament.
Significantly, since being removed from the cabinet, Babul Supriyo was walking away from politics. His pain was palpable when he was removed from the cabinet. Congratulating the people who joined the Union Cabinet from Bengal, he wrote, ‘My best wishes to the new colleagues who are going to join the cabinet from Bengal. I am sad for myself but I am very happy for those people.
