Alt-News co-founder Mohammad Zubair arrested by Delhi Police for hurting religious sentiments

Alt-News co-founder and journalist Mohammad Zubair has been arrested by Delhi Police. According to the information revealed, Mohammad Zubair has been arrested by the Delhi Police for hurting religious sentiments.

Mohammad Zubair has been arrested by the IFSC Unit of Special Cell of Delhi Police. A case was registered against Zubair under section 153a/295a of IPC, due to the investigation of the same case, today Zubair was called for questioning. The police have claimed that Zubair has been arrested on the basis of sufficient evidence. Police remand will be sought by presenting Zubair in the court.

AltNews co-founder Prateek Sinha said, “Mohammad Zubair was called by the Special Cell of Delhi Police for questioning in a different case in 2020. In this case, he has got protection from the High Court. However, today at 6:45 pm we were informed that he has been arrested due to an FIR registered in some other case.”

He said that no notice was given to Mohammad Zubair regarding this matter. There is a provision for giving notice in the sections in which he has been arrested, but this has not been done. Even after several requests, we were not given the copy of the FIR.
