Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has been facing a string of failures at the box office. His most recent movie, “Selfiee,” has also failed to perform well in theaters.
Adding to the actor’s woes, the organizers have canceled a concert that was supposed to be a part of his US tour, The Entertainers. According to the organizers, the show had to be called off because of poor ticket sales.
The Tour features Akshay Kumar along with Mouni Roy, Nora Fatehi, Disha Patani, and Sonam Bajwa.
A post by the organizers announced the cancellation of the concert, originally scheduled for March 4 at the Cure Insurance Arena in Trenton, New Jersey.
“We deeply regret to inform our audience that The Entertainers Tour show, featuring Akshay Kumar and other artists, has been cancelled. The show was supposed to take place on March 4, 2023, at the Cure Insurance Arena. We apologize for any inconvenience caused,” read a statement by the organizers.
The organizers stated, “We would like to be fully transparent and disclose that the main reason for the cancellation is due to very low ticket sales, which has made it financially unfeasible to proceed with the show without incurring significant losses. It is clear that there is minimal demand for this show, and we acknowledge that we did not effectively promote the tour to create awareness among the South Asian diaspora in the United States.”
However , the remaining concerts across the United States are still scheduled to proceed as originally planned.
In the meantime, Akshay’s recent theatrical release, “Selfiee,” performed extremely poorly at the box office. Reports suggest that the movie only managed to earn Rs 10 crore in its opening weekend, which is the actor’s lowest box office performance in almost a decade.
Even in 2022, Akshay failed to deliver a single successful movie despite numerous releases in theaters, such as “Bachchan Paandey,” “Raksha Bandhan,” and “Samrat Prithviraj,” among others.
