Akshay Kumar Starrer ‘Atrangi Re’ faces Boycott by Right-Wing, accused of promoting ‘Love Jihad’

After almost three years, a film on the love triangle is coming under the direction of Aanand L Roy. The movie is Atrangi Re. It has also been dubbed in Tamil along with Hindi. The film stars the trio of Akshay Kumar, Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan.

The film has created quite a buzz on social media and got released on December 24 on Disney + Hotstar and became the most-watched film on the OTT platform. The film received a positive response from movie lovers but right-wing social media users are running trends on social media to boycott it. The people are saying that the movie Atrangi Re is promoting Love Jihad.

Aanand L Roy has tried to show some issues in his own way in the film. One of them is the forced marriage, which is to be held in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Second, the contradiction of the youth of a community facing the shortage of brides in Tamil Nadu is coming to the fore in a different way. And the third issue is Hindu-Muslim love, which is promoted in the current politics as ‘love jihad’.

Not long ago, Farhan Akhtar’s Toofan came with the same concept. Perhaps this was the only mainstream film to date in which the way of showing the love of a Muslim boy and a Hindu girl was bold. There was a lot of campaign on social media against the digitally streamed film. People also targeted the different religions of the male and female characters. Now once again there has been a campaign on Twitter regarding ‘Atrangi Re’. Few comments by the netizens  on Twitter are as follows:
