After Ravish Kuamr and Sreenivasan Jain, Senior Journalist Nidhi Razdan quits NDTV

Nidhi Razdan has decided to leave NDTV, following in the footsteps of Ravish Kumar and Sreenivasan Jain who had already left the media outlet after it was taken over by industrialist Gautam Adani. Razdan made her departure known via a tweet on Tuesday.

In her tweet, Razdan stated, “After more than 22 years, it is time to move on from NDTV. It has been a wonderful, roller coaster ride but you have to know when to get off. The next couple of weeks are my last. Thank you for the love and support all these years.”

The news of Razdan’s resignation created a split in opinions on social media. Her supporters viewed it as NDTV’s loss, while her detractors, particularly BJP supporters, used the opportunity to criticize her by bringing up the previously reported fake job offer from Harvard University.

On Saturday, Sreenivasan Jain, the host of the popular shows “Reality Check” and “Truth vs Hype,” announced his resignation via Twitter. He wrote, “The decision to resign wasn’t easy, but…it is what it is. More later.”

Earlier in the month, several key executives of the channel including group president Suparna Singh, Chief Strategy Officer Arijit Chatterjee, and Chief Technology and Product Officer Kawaljit Singh Bedi, announced their departures from the network.

NDTV announced the resignations and stated that the company was undergoing a leadership transition, working towards putting together a new team that would steer the broadcaster in a new strategic direction and set new goals.

On November 30, 2022, the Adani group completed its takeover of NDTV after acquiring the majority of stakes owned by the founders, Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy, at a premium of nearly 17% over the price paid to the firm’s minority shareholders. The official announcement was made on August 23, preceding the takeover by three months.

Adani officially acquired the company on November 30, 2022, resulting in Prannoy and Radhika Roy resigning from the board of directors despite Gautam Adani’s statement in a western media interview that he had asked the Roys to remain as chairpersons of the network.

Following Roy’s resignation on November 30, 2022, senior journalist Ravish Kumar also announced his departure from the company, effective immediately. In a poignant yet composed video on his official YouTube channel, Ravish expressed his belief that the conditions for journalism were deteriorating
