Actor R Madhavan roasts Chetan Bhagat in ‘Books’ Vs ‘Movies’ debate on Twitter

R Madhavan roasts Chetan Bhagat: R Madhavan is counted among those actors in the industry who generally keep calm and talk politely, but on Monday, his second avatar was seen on Twitter. Madhavan clashed with noted writer Chetan Bhagat and a tweet war broke out between the two. Madhavan slammed Chetan’s books and even said that if he loves books so much, then what is he doing in his show. Let us tell you that Madhavan and Surveen Chawla are in the lead roles in the Netflix show Decoupled. Chetan Bhagat has also given a special appearance in this show and played his real-life character.

It started with a tweet from Netflix, which said – let’s settle it – books are bigger than movies or movies are bigger than books. Taking the lead on this tweet, Chetan wrote – My books and a movie made on them. To this, R Madhavan replied that he preferred books.

On this Chetan wittily replied, “Have you ever heard anyone ever say the movie is better than the book?” Taking this opportunity, Madhavan exclaimed, “YES! 3 Idiots”. On this Chetan wrote, “You’re flaunting 3 Idiots to ME? Don’t try to preach to the choir, maybe you should go actually read my books.”

Let us tell you, 3 Idiots directed by Rajkumar Hirani is based on Chetan’s novel ‘Five Pointed Someone’. Sharman Joshi and R Madhavan were part of the main star cast in this film along with Aamir Khan. Kareena Kapoor Khan played the female lead role.

Madhavan hits his punch on this taunt of Chetan – If you love books so much, why are you in my new show? Decoupled streaming only on Netflix. To this Chetan replied –HAHAHAHAHA, what an unsubtle plug, maybe it’s just me, I prefer a Pulitzer over a pan masala branded award show. Madhavan hit back saying, “Well I prefer the 300 Crore Club over Bestseller.”

To this, Chetan said that he prefers to be known by his name rather than ‘Farhan from that one movie’. Madhavan’s character in 3 Idiots was named Farhan. Madhavan’s beautiful response to this absolutely made our hearts melt. He wrote, “I’m not known just as Farhan. I’m also known as Manu from Tanu Weds Manu, Kartikh from Alaipayuthey, and my favourite, Maddy kyunki mein rehta hoon sab ke dil mein.” The last bit was a reference to Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, his debut Bollywood film. This Twitter fight between Madhavan and Chetan lasted till late night.

Before you get serious about this fight between Madhavan and Chetan, let us tell you that this Twitter war between Madhavan and Chetan is actually a promotional strategy of the show, under which both the celebrities are pulling each other on Twitter. Because in the show also Madhavan’s character is a celebrated writer and he humiliates Chetan Bhagat. Both are carrying forward their same characters in social media.
