AAP MP Sanjay Singh demands in Rajya Sabha for release of Kashmir files on YouTube and Doordarshan

Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has given a notice in the Zero Hour of Rajya Sabha demanding the release of ‘The Kashmir Files’, a film on Kashmiri Pandits, on YouTube and Doordarshan. In response to this, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that if the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party want all the people of the country to see this film, then why are they themselves not making it tax free in Delhi.

The AAP MP, in his letter to the Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha, had said that efforts should be made to resettle Kashmiri Pandits. The ‘Kashmir Files’ film has so far earned more than two hundred crores at the box office. This money should be used for rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits.

Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’ was released on March 11. Ever since the release of this film has been a topic of discussion on the political spectrum. While one section of the society agrees with the story of atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits shown in the film, the other section is not satisfied with it. Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumar in lead roles. The film is based on the massacre of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir in the 1990s.

The film on Kashmiri Pandits has been declared tax free in states like Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Goa, Haryana and Uttarakhand. While one side of the society is appreciating the work of the makers of this film, another side is criticizing the film on the fact that the story of Kashmiri Pandits is not shown properly in this film. Especially whatever is shown about Kashmiri Muslims in the film is beyond the truth.

In the recent Delhi Assembly, whatever Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the profits from the film should be spent for the welfare of Kashmiri Pandits. He also said that there is no justification for making the film tax free. He suggested to put the film on YouTube, everyone will see it for free.

Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal had said that since the massacre and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits took place, since then in the last 25 years, there has been a BJP government at the Center for 13 years. For the last eight years also BJP is in power. But till now not a single Kashmiri Pandit has been resettled. BJP has used the exploitation of Kashmiri Pandits only for political gains. Now some people are making money by making a film on this tragic tragedy.
