Industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s company Reliance Jio’s (Jio Network) network has seen a huge increase in data consumption. Data consumption jumped 50.9 per cent over the second quarter of the previous fiscal, reaching 2300 million GB in the September quarter. Data consumption per connection also continues to increase steadily. Each Jio customer used an average of 17.6 GB data per month. According to the quarterly financial data released by Reliance Industries late last evening, each subscriber on the Jio network spoke on an average of 840 minutes on the phone every month.
Overall, 1.9 trillion minutes of talk time was recorded on the Jio network during the second quarter. Jio’s average revenue per user per month i.e. ARPU also saw a rise. Jio’s average revenue per user (ARPU) stood at Rs 138.2 in the first quarter, which increased by 3.7 per cent to Rs 143.6 in the September quarter. On this, Ambani said in his statement- “Our digital services business – Jio, is constantly changing the face of the broadband market in India and setting new benchmarks for the industry.
The company wants to launch JioPhone Next in the market before Diwali. Regarding the launch date of JioPhone Next, the company reiterated its promise that Reliance Jio and Google are working together to ensure the availability of JioPhone before Diwali. Jio Platforms has made a net profit of Rs 3,728 crore in the second quarter of July to September 2021. This is 23.5 percent more than the year-ago period. Last year i.e. in the second quarter of the financial year 2020-21, the net profit was Rs 3,019 crore.
The company said in the statement that 5G testing is going on and according to the data so far, it is very successful. 40 lakh campuses have been connected to JioFiber while JioFiber has reached the doorsteps of 16 million premises. The company is now planning to enter the ‘connected vehicle’ market in a big way as well. The company said that it has partnered with several other leading automobile companies.
